defend, protect與guard
這三個詞都有“保護, 使安全”之意, 也都常用于defend/protect/guard…against/from…結(jié)構(gòu)中。 ①defend意為“保衛(wèi), 捍衛(wèi)”, 指抵抗或防御外來的威脅、攻擊;它還可表示在法庭上或理論上進行辯護。
The people defended the town against the foreign invaders. 人民保衛(wèi)城鎮(zhèn), 抵抗外國侵略者。 7、 ②protect意為“保護”, 指的是采取措施以保障某人或某物的安全, 以免受到危險或損害、傷害等。
