①使役動詞和感覺動詞后不定式作賓補時，省略不定式符號to。
②不定式與前面的動詞重復時，常被省略，但要保留to。
1、使役動詞let, make, have及感覺動詞see, watch, hear, notice, observe feel, witness等后面作賓語補足語的不定式要省去，但用于被動語態時不能省略。
例如：I saw the boy fall from the tree. The boy was seen to fall from the tree.
2、有時為了避免重復，表達相同意思的不定式to符號后面的內容常承前省略，只保留不定式符號to。
?、傧祫釉~(be) + adj. 此類用法中常見的形容詞有：afraid, ready, glad, happy, willing等。例如：
-Could you go shopping with me?
-I am glad to.(省略了go shopping with you)
?、趍ean, try, want, afford, decide, refuse, wish, like, need, would like, would love等后面接不定式作賓語時，省略作賓語的不定式，只保留不定式符號to。
-Are you going there? -Yes, Id like to. (省略了going there)
【注意】若該賓語是be動詞或完成時態的不定式時，則須在to后面保留be或have。例如：
-Are you an engineer? -No, but I want to be. (be不能省略)
③tell, warn, order, advise, ask, expect等動詞后不定式作賓補時，常省略不定式的內容，只保留不定式符號to。例如：
The students want to enter the lab, but the monitor advises them not to.
Nothing can stop the boy from playing video games when he wants to.
?、軆蓚€或兩個以上的動詞不定式由并列連詞連接時，后面的不定式可省去to。若表示對比、對照時，則不省略to。
Her job is to take care of the children and (to) wash clothes.
Its better to laugh than to cry.
3、特殊結構中的省略
would rather, had better, would sooner, do nothing but, have nothing to do but, there is nothing to do but, cant help but, rather than等后不定式符號常省略。
例如：He would sooner die than surrender.
