許多抽象名詞之后可以使用that從句。較常用的抽象名詞有：allegation，announcement，belief，discovery，fact，fear， guarantee，hope，knowledge，promise，proposal，report，ru- mour，suggestion，suspicion。proposal和suggestion后面要求使用thatshould結構。

　　說要在附近建造新機場的通告馬上引起了反對。

　　The proposal/suggestion that shops should open on Sundays led to a heat- ed discussion.

　　關于商店星期日也應該營業的提議，引起了激烈的爭論。

　　A report that the area was dangerous was ignored by the residents. 居民對這一地區有危險的報告不予理采。
