經過前幾年的普及，大家都知道草根的英文是grassroot。那么，草根們的領袖用英語怎么說呢？

　　Grasstop is the leadership in a community or organization. This term is a play on grassroots, the ordinary people of a community or organization.

　　Grasstop指某個社區或組織的領袖，即“草根領袖”。Grasstop這個詞是在grassroots（草根）一詞基礎上演化而來，草根指社區或組織里的那些普通人。

　　Since at least 1912 the word "grassroots" has been used mostly in a political context, where it refers to the rank-and-file of the electorate, a political party, or some other political organization. If the grassroots form the base of the political pyramid, the grasstops form the apex, the small group that consists of the elite and powerful members of the body politic.

　　至少從1912年起，草根一詞就大量用于政治語境，用來指代普通選民、某個政黨或者某個政治組織。如果說草根（grassroots）構成政治金字塔的底座的話，那么草根領袖（grasstop）則是構成塔尖的一份子，這一小部分人包括了政治圈里的精英和有權勢的成員。
