Whatever I do, I want to have passion for it.

劉欣思忖片刻，她坦言，自己“不喜歡‘present’這個詞”。

Actually, I don't like the word "present", because that means you know what you are going to talk about and you put it in front of them, take it or leave it. We choose a topic which we think might be interesting, might be informative to them, and we discuss it. I 'm not worried about what it is going to look like, what is going to be the conclusion, let's have a genuine and high-quality discussion.

請問庫恩先生，您現(xiàn)在有多重身份：中國問題研究學(xué)者、銀行家、科學(xué)家……你如何能駕馭這么多的領(lǐng)域？他們有哪些共同點(diǎn)嗎？

庫恩給出了一個很熱血的回答。對于他目前所有能夠做好的事情，他都有一個共同的經(jīng)驗(yàn)：熱愛（passion）。

Whatever I do, I want to have passion for it.

無論我做什么，我都希望我能夠帶著熱愛去做。

這也是他能夠涉獵多種領(lǐng)域，同時(shí)長期做中國相關(guān)研究的動力之源。

第二個經(jīng)驗(yàn)，就是他對學(xué)習(xí)的熱愛（passion to learn）。

庫恩說，他來中國是為了學(xué)習(xí)，而并不是為了講課。他拿自己寫書的經(jīng)驗(yàn)來舉例子：

When I write a new book, there is something I want to learn about, and I use that vehicle to learn. So passion about learning is the common denominator.

當(dāng)我寫作一本書的時(shí)候，這其中必有我想要學(xué)習(xí)的東西。我將寫書當(dāng)做學(xué)習(xí)的途徑。所以對學(xué)習(xí)的熱愛是我對從事工作的共同點(diǎn)。

愛你所愛，對世界永遠(yuǎn)充滿好奇，這確實(shí)是所有青年們都可以學(xué)到的一課。

問：

作為一名國際資訊記者，你在向外國受眾報(bào)道的過程中，可能要向外國受眾介紹一些基本概念，這比向中國受眾報(bào)道要難。你如何將中國呈現(xiàn)（present）給世界？

劉欣思忖片刻，她坦言，自己“不喜歡‘present’這個詞”。

Actually, I don't like the word "present", because that means you know what you are going to talk about and you put it in front of them, take it or leave it. We choose a topic which we think might be interesting, might be informative to them, and we discuss it. I 'm not worried about what it is going to look like, what is going to be the conclusion, let's have a genuine and high-quality discussion.

實(shí)際上，我并不喜歡present這個詞，因?yàn)檫@意味著你知道你要說的內(nèi)容，你就將這些準(zhǔn)備好的內(nèi)容拿出來，任由對方取舍。而我們是選取有趣、有意義的話題，一起來討論。我并不擔(dān)心結(jié)果，也不擔(dān)心結(jié)論，而是希望有一場真正的，高質(zhì)量的討論。

她也同時(shí)提到，在報(bào)道過程中，需要為受眾提供“語境”，向受眾解釋基本概念是非常重要的。

劉欣強(qiáng)調(diào)，受眾思維很重要，她還引用了一句媒體金句：“Never leave your audiences scratching their heads. ”（不要讓你的受眾迷惑不解）。

問：

很多外國青年來到中國，一同見證中國的新時(shí)代。您對這些青年有何建議？

對這些外國青年的建議，劉欣的回復(fù)也是簡潔而聰明：

I think they are already doing the right thing by being in China.

他們就在中國，他們已經(jīng)做了正確的事。

她接著說道：

l think the fact that they come here, shows they believe in this place and they want to find out about it. What else can you ask?

他們來到中國，是因?yàn)樗麄兿嘈胖袊胍私庵袊驈?fù)何求呢？
